Technology and Ben

So the boys always watch TV while I take a shower (if they are up). I get out of the shower this morning, and Ben (5) has started DVR all by himself. Wow, I was impressed he could figure it out. I had shown him once how to fast-forward through commercials if they were watching something recorded, but never how to actually start something. His words: “the only problem is I don’t know how to read so I just had to keep going through the list and starting each one until I found something I wanted to watch.” Hmmm, good motivation to read I guess! He also has my old cell phone (not activated but fully functional). He has figured out how to take pictures, play games, set alarms, etc. Clayton even got him an extra memory card for it for Christmas – he’s 5! Funny to listen to him worry about forgetting his phone or charger when visit one of the grandparents or cousins. Crazy Benny!

Everyone was so excited to be a part of her first bath! She cooperated quite well.

Lexi's Story

So we have our new puppy. Lexi came to us on April 19, 2009, born the day before Ducly died on February 27. Her mother is a Golden Retriever and father is a Chocolate Lab; she was from a litter of 10 puppies. We were in Lincoln for bike races over the weekend. I had been watching several area papers for puppies and her ad appeared on Saturday in the Lincoln Journal Star. Dan picked her up between races on Sunday. Timothy says "My dad got me our new puppy Hexi at his bike race!" She is exactly what we were looking for. She has done a lot of sleeping - has had no accidents in the house, yet, and is just starting to get a little more comfortable with her surroundings. She loves to play outside with the boys. It is also quickly becoming evident she will chew on everything - great motivation for the boys to keep their toys picked up!
